Laboratories
The Accelerator Engineering Laboratory of the UrFU Physical Engineering Department has a rich, more than half a century long, history. At the beginning of the path, the fleet of accelerators consisted of a 120 cm cyclotron, a microtron, several betatrons, and a van der Graaf generator. The laboratory conducted research in the field of radiation materials science, materials research using nuclear-physical methods, radiation modification of materials. Currently, the laboratory operates a radiation sterilization system based on a linear accelerator, as well as a cyclotron, which will serve as the basis of a cluster of nuclear medicine.
The research and education center Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies was established in 2009. Nanomaterials are studied here using the methods of transmission, tunneling, probe and digital microscopy. Special attention is paid to mechanical, thermal, luminescent properties of nanomaterials. The center creates innovative materials for nanoelectronics, nanophotonics and new methods of dosimetry of ionizing radiation.
